The Comfortable Chair Store going out of business after 34 years
Final liquidation sale underway ahead of owner’s retirement
ROSWELL, Ga. (June 29, 2026) — The Comfortable Chair Store in the historic Roswell district will soon close its doors permanently after 34 years furnishing homes in Metro Atlanta. First opened in 1992 as Rockers Unlimited, the store was founded by Craig Daniels, late husband of current owner Julia Daniels, and his father, Irving Daniels, who was the former VP of Rich’s Home Furnishings, a division of the prominent Atlanta-based chain in the southeast for more than a century. Originally located on Barrett Parkway, Rockers Unlimited specialized in high-end gliders and rockers. After Julia became co-owner in 2004 upon Irving’s retirement, she and Craig rebranded the business as The Comfortable Chair Store and expanded its offerings to include sofas, recliners, lift chairs, home theater seating, rugs and accessories.
The store relocated to Roswell in 2010, where it has continued to serve customers throughout the metro region. Craig and Julia built a loyal following by offering customizable, American-made furniture tailored to an individual’s size, physical needs, and personal style. After Craig passed in 2015, Julia continued to run the store until her recent decision to retire.
“Closing a business is never an easy decision,” says Julia, “especially when you have an extended family of wonderful customers, employees, and vendors. I can’t express enough appreciation to everyone whose support saw the store through these last 34 years.”
Total liquidation of The Comfortable Chair Store is underway at 1101 Alpharetta St (Hwy 9) with deep discounts offered on quality furniture including living room sets, recliners, lift chairs, swivel chairs, case goods, rugs and accessories from around the world.
